If you are looking for a beach in Boracay that is family-friendly and that is less crowded, then you might want to consider Punta Bunga Beach.
When we were staying at the Shangri-La Hotel in Boracay, we also spent the majority of our time at Punta Bunga Beach. For those of you who might not be familiar with Punta Bunga Beach, it’s a public beach located in Boracay’s Station Zero.
It’s secluded and less crowded, making it ideal for families with kids who want to enjoy the sun, sand, and sea breeze without having to think about the challenges of being in a crowded location.
Again, I’d like to emphasize that it’s a public beach, even if it may not appear so because of the luxury resorts fronting it; there are access paths from the main road that traverse residential areas. Just ask around, especially the locals, and they can help point you to the public access. You can also hire public transportation (such as a tricycle), which can help drop you off at the public access areas.
That being said, what can you do at Punta Bunga Beach?
If you have not purchased a hotel package, you can lounge on the sand, swim in the beach, and just enjoy the peace and quiet.
However, if you are checked into a hotel, such as in Shangri-La Boracay, you can take advantage of the amenities they offer, such as the following:
Free use of beach chairs
It goes without saying that you can use the beach lounge chairs and umbrellas, as well as request free cold drinking water from the hotel staff.
Snorkeling
Yes, you may snorkel at Punta Bunga Beach, complete with gear and a life vest. A lifeguard may even accompany you as you snorkel further into the water.
Kayaking
If you’d like to explore the waters a bit further, but are afraid to swim in the deep, then you can use the kayaks available for guests who are checked in.
If you ask me, I can spend the whole day at Punta Bunga Beach. I like the general peacefulness of the place and the relaxation that it brings because it’s not crowded. However, if you are after the party vibe of Boracay, you might not enjoy it as much. Just the same, it’s still worth including in your family travel itinerary in Boracay.
