We Finally Traveled To Boracay with Our Kids [Family Guide]

August 21, 2025

We finally had the opportunity to travel to Boracay as a family early this year after many years of not being able to do so.

After years of planning, we finally had the chance to take our kids to Boracay last May 2025. It was a trip that we were all looking forward to because it was our first trip to Boracay since 2017 (we didn’t have kids that time yet, and Mommy Khris was just pregnant with Miguel), and it was also Rafa’s first time riding an airplane.

Our excitement was also very apparent as we were at NAIA Terminal 2 early for our boarding requirements (we booked via Cebu Pacific). Thankfully, our flight was on time and we arrived at Boracay Airport in less than an hour.

We booked at the Shangri-La Hotel in Boracay (thanks to Ate Cha, my sister-in-law, for the discount), and part of the package was the complimentary shuttle service to the jetty port and the speedboat ride going to the hotel.

Shangri-La Boracay’s waiting lounge at the jetty port was also worth mentioning because it was designed for comfort; there was free Nespresso coffee, cold water, cookies, cold face towels, and it was also air-conditioned. You wouldn’t mind waiting here for the speedboat to arrive.

I thought the kids would be a little anxious during the speed boat ride, but it was the other way around because both of them seemed to enjoy it and were pretty excited about the splashing water.

Arrival at Shangri-La Boracay was also quite a unique affair, as you would be greeted by ethnic dancers swaying to the drumbeat. We took a buggy to the reception area, where we were served welcome drinks. After the usual check-in, we were taken to our Deluxe Seaview Room, which afforded us a splendid view of the beach and the stunning horizon. We wasted no time, and as soon as we had our lunch, we immediately took a dip in the swimming pool and then the beach, and waited for the sun to set in the skyline.

On our second day, we wanted to explore Boracay and put ourselves where the action is, so we went to Boracay 2 to shop for souvenirs, eat food sold along the beach, watch the paraws, swim on the beach, and eat dinner at D'Mall.

For the rest of our vacation, we spent our days enjoying the food and amenities at Shangri-La Boracay, such as the fish feeding, kayaking, beach and swimming pools, Adventure Zone, and Entertainment Center. I will make a separate post about our Shangri-La Boracay experience.

All in all, we had a wonderful family travel experience at Boracay. We created new and wonderful memories with our kids, who were also able to see our favorite island in the Philippines.
