We stayed at the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel in Boracay during our recent family vacation and I would say that the price was worth it.
During our family trip to Boracay, we stayed at the luxurious Shangri-La Hotel. Yes, I consider Shangri-La Boracay luxurious, and it was a once-in-a-blue-moon splurge, since we figured we hadn’t traveled in a fancy destination as a family for so long. I guess your next question would be, “Is it worth it?” I’d say yes! If you have the budget to spend and if you are looking for a family-friendly hotel in Boracay, then Shangri-La is definitely worth it; you are assured of comfort the moment you arrive in Boracay.
From the Boracay Airport, we were fetched by the hotel’s shuttle service. While waiting for our speed boat to arrive, we waited at the air-conditioned lounge at the port, where you can enjoy complimentary water, coffee, cookies, and cold towels. When it was time to go to the hotel, we were ushered to the speedboat, which took us to the hotel in no time. We were also greeted by native dancers before being taken by a buggy to the main lobby for check-in.
Staying at the Deluxe Seaview Room
Upon entering the Deluxe Seaview Room, I was immediately drawn by the comfortable bed and the superb view of the beach outside. The room spelled comfort – the beds were lovely, the bathroom was spacious, and there was even a bathtub, and the terrace had couches where one can just languidly lounge and listen to the waves outside. I didn’t want to leave our room, to be honest, but we had to make the most out of our stay (and payment, haha).

Anyway, the room had the usual amenities like complimentary slippers, drinking water, a personal refrigerator, and dried fruits. Meanwhile, the bathroom had bath amenities from Pana Puri, which were superbly fragrant and nourishing to the skin. The lotion, in particular, was able to relieve the discomfort from the dermatitis in my hands.
What to do in Shangri-La Boracay
It seems like you will never run out of activities to do when you are in Shangri-La Boracay. If you want slow days, you don’t have to leave the property. Just the same, you won’t feel like you are missing out on things because you chose not to go to the party places on the island.
Going back to the things that you can do in Shangri-La Boracay, you can take advantage of the swimming pool. If you have kids, be ready to spend hours in the swimming pool; they won’t get out unless their fingers are already wrinkled like raisins.
Aside from the pool, another option would be the beach. Again, don’t expect to stay briefly if you have kids with you. Better bring with you beach toys, a tube of sunscreen, and endless patience. Nevertheless, I’m happy to see my kids happy and enjoying themselves.

For grown-ups, you can go to the Entertainment Center for a game of billiards, shooting, darts, and many more. You can also take the kids to the Adventure Zone, where they can use the slide, trampoline, ball pit, and many more to their hearts’ delight.

We also tried the koi feeding, and it was an enjoyable early morning activity.

Moving around Shangri-La Boracay is also easy because you can request a buggy anytime, which can drive you to the different parts of the hotel.
Dining at Shangri-La Boracay
Unlike other hotels, the room booking at Shangri-La Boracay doesn’t include free breakfast, so better be ready for extra expenses on food. We had our meals at Vintana Café and at the poolside restaurants. I would say the price of the food is quite reasonable, and the choices were all delicious.

Dining at Vintana Cafe |
For breakfast, we had breakfast buffet at Vintana Cafe, and the selections were wide-ranging and delectable. The cuisine ranges from the usual Filipino favorites to continental breakfast selections. Our whole family, the children most especially, enjoyed our meals at Jamie Shangri-La Boracay.
Conclusion
Our family vacation at Shangri-La Boracay is one of our best getaways so far. We took advantage of the amenities, and our experience was made even more unforgettable because of the friendly staff of the hotel. Will we return to Shangri-La Boracay? Definitely! We would like to return to Shangri-La Boracay someday, but hopefully, we will have the budget for it again.
