During our stay at Shangri-La Hotel in Boracay, we had most of our meals at Vintana Cafe and I would say that it was always an enjoyable family treat.
We had most of our meals at Vintana Café during our stay in Shangri-La Boracay. Aside from the poolside restaurant, this is the only other dining option in Shangri-La Boracay, unless you are patient enough to go to D’Mall in Station 2. You might be asking if our Deluxe Room booking came with a free breakfast at Vintana Café, and the answer is no. I think you would have to book a Villa in order to enjoy the free breakfast buffet at Vintana Café. Just the same, the price of the food is quite reasonable. If you are staying in Shangri-La Boracay, anyway, you might as well be ready to splurge. After all, it’s not always that one gets to stay at Shangri-La Boracay.
In any case, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet at Vintana Café. The breakfast spread is divided into various cuisines, particularly continental, Filipino, as well as other Asian favorites. Of course, bacon is a mainstay, and we like that the one used at Vintana Café is not too salty. For the Filipino favorites, there is fried milkfish, garlic fried rice (sinangag), arroz caldo, longganisa, taho, bibingka, and many more. If you want Japanese food, there is also a sushi station.
There is also a bread station, with an assortment of different pieces of bread, which is delightful when warmed and eaten with butter. For kids (and the young-at-heart), there is a cereal bar, complete with milk and toppings. Salad, cold cuts, and cheese are also available, and you may enjoy this, too, at Vintana Café.
We always enjoy the breakfast buffet, especially if we are eating with our kids, because they can be very picky. If there are a good number of choices, chances are, we’d stumble upon a food item that they will like. Bacon is always a given, thank God for that.
Fried bangus and longganisa are almost always safe as well, and so is cereal and milk. When there is an arroz caldo station, I make sure to get fried garlic bits because Miguel loves this. For Rafa, fried chicken is always a safe choice. They seldom like saucy food, but they do like noodles and soup-based food.
As for me, I always get bacon, omelet, and some fried rice. I like to get arroz caldo as well and some vegetables (grilled vegetables for breakfast and some salad). At Vintana Café, grilled pineapple is also ever-present at the breakfast buffet, and while I’m not too fond of fruits, I appreciate the smoky caramelized goodness of grilled pineapples.
I also tried to get a small portion of the dishes that caught my interest so that I could sample those, but in the end, I just got the food that I really like. I’d like to end my breakfast with taho and bibingka, which are both satisfying desserts. If you like bibingka, drizzle it with vanilla sauce, and you’d be surprised by how delicious it is. Of course, coffee is overflowing, but you can also request hot chocolate.
All in all, our family meals at Vintana Café were always enjoyable. I liked the cozy atmosphere, but it does get crowded during peak hours. Just the same, the service was always fast and efficient.
