Canyon Cove: Family Travel Idea + Guide

Even in the new normal, Canyon Cove Hotel and Spa in Nasugbu, Batangas remains one of the top choices for family outings. I can think of several reasons but these are at the top of my list: first, the rooms are spacious enough to accommodate large groups of people. These are residential types of lodgings complete with a kitchen & sink, dining area, bathroom, and bedrooms. Second, the overnight rate is fairly affordable considering the size of the rooms as well as the proximity to the beachfront. Third, while Nasugbu is a bit distant from Metro Manila, driving is a practical option because the roads are wide and in good condition making it a comfortable ride. Taking the Sta. Rosa exit and then the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway is still the best route when going to Canyon Cove.

    Our experience at Canyon Cove

It's not our first time being in Canyon Cove. We went here in 2019 when Miguel was a little over a year old. It was an awful experience because the owner of our rented unit was too challenging to talk to and was quite unprofessional to deal with. In fact, we were cramped in a small room, with some of our companions making do with mattresses for beds on the floor.

Anyway, our experience this time was smooth and the owner of the unit that we booked was a breeze to transact with. They even checked on us to see if everything was in order once we were settled inside the unit. The unit had a bedroom with two beds, a bathroom, a kitchen with sink, refrigerator, and utensils, a terrace where we can also grill food, a television, an extra bed in the living room area, and two sofas where we can all comfortably sit. It was a clean, comfortable, and well-maintained unit so it was a good deal.

What to do at Canyon Cove

We went to Canyon Cove for the beach. It's been close to a year since our Pico de Loro family trip so we figured this Canyon Cove trip was a good opportunity to take Miguel and Rafa swimming on the beach. As expected, our two boys enjoyed swimming so much that it was always a challenge to convince them to get out of the water when it was time to go. With that, we took advantage of every opportunity to swim like going to the beach early.

Aside from swimming on the beach, a swimming pool is also available. A word of caution though, the swimming pool is small so it's literally teeming with swimmers especially during peak hours (when the sun is a little bearable) and during the early evening. Just imagine what's in the water to help you decide if you want to take a dip or not.

Besides swimming, you can lie on the beach or leisurely stroll inside Canyon Cove.

What to remember when taking your kids to Canyon Cove

It's important to ensure that your kids are comfortable while on the way to Canyon Cove and also during your entire stay. Here are some of the things that you can bring with you to make sure that your kids will have a pleasant experience at Canyon Cove:

    Epilogue

All in all, we had a wonderful experience at Canyon Cove. We were able to take our children to the beach and they both enjoyed swimming as well as playing on the sand. Our room was big and comfortable and our host was a delight to talk to. It’s nice to know that Canyon Cove is still in business even after the lockdowns, travel ban, and beyond the new normal.
