Grateful Dad #22.23: We’re A Little Different Each Day

December 03, 2023

We should always strive to spend quality time with our loved ones because we grow a little different and become a new person each day.

We’ve often heard other parents say that we should spend as much time as possible with our little children and that’s because they grow up too fast. In a snap, they’re no longer the clingy small kids whose world revolves around us. As busy working parents though, most of us only get to allot the weekends for them. However, I’ve read one eye-opening post on Facebook which said that we should spend as much time with our children each day.

We’re A Little Different Each Day

Grateful Dad #22.23: We’re A Little Different Each Day

Ideally, we should be present for them each day and that’s because they change each day. The small child that we know yesterday is different, although slightly, from the small child that we know today. Just a tad bit different but, nonetheless, not 100% the same. They grow a bit each day, learn new things each day, gain new interests as the days go by, and so on. If you think about it, the same is true for us. We are a little older each day, our energies are diminished each day, and being adults, we get worn out from the battles of life every day.

When our children are still small, we think that we have a lot of years ahead of us. We think that we have more time to catch up for the lost time because of work or anything. Then again, the truth is that each day of absence (physically or mentally) from our family is lost time with them.

Spending quality time with my family

On the other hand, it’s also true that we do have to make sacrifices on some days since we don’t live in an ideal world. This is where quality time comes in. We should strive to spend quality moments with our family when we are with them. We should talk to our children, ask them how they are, take them out somewhere that they enjoy, eat your favorite family meal together, take a stroll in the park, and shower your loved ones with unlimited kisses.

While we do have lost time with our kids and family, when we are with them, we should live for the now. We should cherish each moment today. That’s because tomorrow, things will be different. All of us will not be the same person as yesterday. Also, we live on borrowed time. None of us know when we will still be around tomorrow or if the people we love and know will also be there for us on the next day.

Again, savor each moment with our loved ones. Make them feel that they are important to us and that they are loved.
