Sharing our recent experience at TGI Friday's, one of our most favorite restaurants.
Mommy Khris and I recently had the chance to eat at TGI Friday’s again when
we went to Robinsons Galleria to renew my driver’s license. It was more than
a year when we last ate at a TGI Friday’s restaurant and we didn’t realize
how we missed the food here so much. This time, however, we deviated from
our usual orders and got the lunch meal set. We didn’t regret that decision
a bit and after finishing our meal, we were reminded again why TGI Friday’s
is one of our most favorite restaurants in Metro Manila.
Delightful Eats at TGI Friday’s [Review]
Dining at TGI Friday’s in the pandemic
The last time that we were at a TGI Friday’s outlet was to celebrate Rafa’s
christening. That was about a month before the pandemic put everything at a
standstill.
Yes, we already had Rafa christened because we were to bring him
home to my town in the province at that time. We were really planning another
christening and first birthday party for him at that time, similar to Miguel,
but had to cancel it because of the quarantine restrictions.
Anyway, going back to TGI Friday’s, we were drawn to it when we saw its branch
at Robinsons Galleria. It was empty, so we felt a little bit of pity for it
and wished that it wouldn’t close down.
We looked at the set meals on offer
and we were instantly enticed with the Signature Bundle which had the Half
Rack Ribs, Six Spiced Chicken, and the Baked Mac & Cheese.
We asked the store manager if they accept dine-in and she said yes, provided
that we were fully vaccinated. We showed her our vaccination cards and our IDs
and then we were ushered to an empty table. A bottle of hand sanitizer was
provided to us and then our order for the Signature Bundle was confirmed.
Since we were the only diners during that time since it was already past
lunchtime, our orders were brought out fast.
It really felt weird to be eating with nobody around us but, again, that was
to be expected since there are still health and safety restrictions being
imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trying something new at TGI Friday’s
As far as I can remember, this was the first time for us to order a full rice
meal from TGI Friday’s as we would usually just order fish and chips, pizza,
and pasta. That being said, the items included in the Signature Bundle are new
to us.
We tried the Half Rack Ribs first and we loved how tender it is. It was
delicious, smoky, and full of barbecue flavors. The sauce was thick, tasty,
and I could tell that there was a hint of spiciness in it. It came with a side
of fries and corn but I’d rather eat this with rice. Just the same, the
potatoes were crunchy and delicious.
Meanwhile, I was surprised with how good the Six Spiced Chicken was. It had a
thin layer of batter but it was flavorful and the boneless meat wasn’t too
oily or fatty. I’m really picky with fried chicken but this Six Spiced Chicken
from TGI Friday’s is one fried chicken meal that I wouldn’t hesitate to eat.
It came with garlic rice, gravy, fried egg, and seasonal vegetables.
We were too full to eat the mac and cheese so we just had it wrapped. We ate
it at home though and it was delicious. The cheese was creamy and plentiful,
so this pasta dish does qualify as great comfort food.

Epilogue
TGI Friday’s is one of our favorite restaurants. It’s usually our first choice
when we are meeting our friends but the pandemic has prevented us from eating
there for more than a year. We were just glad to have eaten here again and
even tried some new dishes included in the Signature Bundle.
