Is Prime Steak House worth it?

There had been some buzz on social media about Prime Steak House a couple of months ago, and we were curious. It was a good thing that there was a branch at SM City Fairview, so when we had the opportunity, we decided to try it. But before I proceed, let’s take a look at what you’re getting.

Is Prime Steak House worth it?

For a price of P999 per head, you can enjoy choices of unlimited steak & meat: Prime T-Bone, Thick Cut NY Strip Hickory, Ribeye Signature Steak, Pork Ribs, Salisbury Steak, Prime Ribeye Steak, Signature Flat Iron, and Beef Salpicao. Sides are also unlimited and included in the price: plain rice, steak rice, French fries, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, corn and carrots, and buttery garlic green beans. Drinks are billed separately from the unlimited meat price.

When we had our lunch at Prime Steak House in SM City Fairview, it was already an hour after 12 noon, which is why we were immediately seated. For the kids, we only had to pay half the price. What I liked about the staff was that they would give recommendations right after handing us the menu, such as the most popular meat choices (Prime Ribeye) and the side dishes (coleslaw and garlic green beans). I ordered the Prime Ribeye Steak (medium) while Mommy Khris ordered T-Bone for her and Beef Salpicao. We ordered coleslaw and green beans for sides, and French fries for the kids.

When our food arrived, our server gave us a tip that we could already place our order for our next meat selection, so I ordered NY strip and Salisbury steak for Mommy Khris. Going back to my ribeye steak, it was cooked to the doneness that I requested. It was tender and flavorful.

It was served with a gravy, but I chose to just season it with salt and pepper to enjoy its delicious taste. There was also a bottle of A1 steak sauce available on each table if you wanted this instead of gravy. I also asked Mommy Khris for a slice of her T-Bone steak, and it was also good. The Salisbury steak is also delicious, and I think it would be a perfect choice for children.

Meanwhile, the kids were loving the Beef Salpicao. Miguel, most especially, loves garlicky food. Aside from the French fries, we also ordered rice for them. As for the side dishes, we loved the green beans, but the best one for us was the coleslaw. It cut the richness of the meat and provided a burst of fresh flavors after each bite.

Now, there are also mixed online reviews about Prime Steak House, especially the more recent ones (old online reviews were mostly positive) in select branches. I hope Prime Steak House will listen to these reviews so as not to compromise the experience of their diners as well as the good name that the restaurant has built over the years.

As for Prime Steak House in SM City Fairview, I’d say that our experience was good. We enjoyed the food, and the service was commendable. All in all, I’d say that it was worth it.
