In the last few instances in which we’ve eaten at Gilligan’s, I remember the food to be ordinary. At some point, I even thought the servings to be quite small. I like their pork sisig, yes, but the other food items seemed average. However, all of that changed when we ate at Gilligan’s again a few months back. Wala na kasi kami maisip na makainan na gusto ng kids kaya naisipan na lang naming bilhan sila ng bulalo sa Gilligan’s.

What we ordered at Gilligan’s
When the menu was handed to us, we thought of ordering the Abot Kaya Combo Meals since the selections looked promising because they came with two viands. We ordered lechon kawali combo meals, barbecue combo meals, sisig, two-piece fried chicken for the kids, sisig, and beef bulalo.

We were surprised by how good the food was, especially the sweet and sour fish fillet. It was absolutely delicious! Actually, nasarapan namin ang lahat ng pagkain, probably because tamang-tama lang yung dami ng servings. Hindi masyadong bitin, unlike before pag group meals ang inoorder naming.

We got to enjoy the taste of the food that we ordered because the servings were big. All of a sudden, biglang nagbago yung tingin naming sa Gilligan’s. Honestly, isa kasi sila sa mga pinaka-affordable na restaurants sa SM City Fairview. Talagang pang-family or group. Bigla ko tuloy naalala, isa rin ang Gilligan’s sa pinakamatatagal nang Filipino restaurants around. I remember eating at Gilligan’s when I was just a newbie employee, and that was in the mid-2000s.

Nakakatuwa na marami pa ring families ang tumatangkilik sa Gilligan’s and I hope it stays that way kasi madalas-dalas na rin kaming makakakain sa kanila pag weekends na lalabas kami ng family ko. By the way, their solo rice meals also come with a free glass of iced tea, so talagang sulit na. Lastly, maayos din ang service nila. Magalang yung mga servers, prompt sa mga requests naming, and mabilis din yung pag-serve nila ng food.

Gilligan’s menu is composed of old-time Filipino favorites like sisig, sinigang, beef bulalo, beef nilaga, kare-kare, Caldereta, chicken, seafood, noodles, and vegetables. Aside from the combo meals, there are also family meals promo that are perfect for big groups.

All in all, Gilligan’s is still one of the best Filipino restaurants around.
