Olive Garden Review

I consider Olive Garden Restaurant as one of the most “sulit” or value-for-money restaurants around Metro Manila because of the unlimited soup, salad, and breadsticks it offers. Not only that, but being part of the Bistro Group, you can also take advantage of the regular deals and discounts offered by Olive Garden in partnership with major credit card brands.

We’ve already eaten at Olive Garden twice, and our experiences on both occasions were pleasant. The food is good and the service is fast. We would usually order pasta for our entrée (Five Cheese Ziti Al Forno, Shrimp & Scallops Aglio Olio, and Shrimp Scampi).

During the last time that we were at Olive Garden, Italian Braised Short Ribs (braised short beef, Italian herbs, carrots and choice of rice or mashed potato). I love how tender the beef was and the sauce was really flavorful.

For the pasta, my favorite was the Shrimp & Scallops Aglio Olio. I like aglio olio pasta in general because the flavors are not too overwhelming. However, I do like the addition of seafood in aglio olio pasta because it makes the dish more hearty.

I like the fresh and sweet taste of the shrimp and scallops in Olive Garden’s aglio olio pasta. The Five Cheese Ziti Al Forno comes in a close second because of the delicious, rich, and savory taste of the cheese sauce.

For the unlimited salad, soup, and breadsticks, Olive Garden serves its famous house salad and fresh breadsticks (garlicky and soft). However, for the soup, you have a choice of the following:

  • Pasta E Fagioli – made of white and green beans, ground beef, tomatoes, and tubetti pasta in a savory broth.
  • Zuppa Toscana – spicy Italian sausage, kale, and potatoes in a creamy broth.
  • Minestrone – fresh vegetables, beans, and pasta in a light tomato broth.
  • Chicken and Gnocchi – a creamy soup made with roasted chicken, Italian dumplings, and spinach.

In terms of my favorites, I like both the Zuppa Toscana and the Minestrone. The Zuppa Toscana is filling, while the Minestrone is light and nourishing. For the house salad, we like that the vegetables used are fresh and crisp.

All in all, it was always a wonderful experience eating at Olive Garden. Again, I like the delicious food and the value-for-money offered by Olive Garden.
