Our Lunch Date at SamgyeopMasarap in SM City Fairview

Last December, Mommy Khris and I were craving Korean barbecue, so we decided to have a lunch date at SamgyeopMasarap. We were actually deciding on where to eat between two restaurants but we went for SamgyeopMasarap because for P599, you get unlimited samgyupsal as well as seafood and wagyu cubes (just add P100). We realized we hadn’t eaten in a Korean barbecue restaurant for so long.

SamgyeopMasarap’s ambiance is just like any other similar restaurant. Grills are installed on the tables and the interiors are generally smoky. Sometimes it can feel stuffy but it’s generally comfortable to eat at SamgyeopMasarap.

When we were settled on our seats, plates of thinly sliced meat and seafood were served. The seafood was shrimp, squid, as well as cheesy scallops on shells. In terms of the sides, we had the usual kimchi, baby potatoes, onions, fish cakes, spring onions, and lettuce. For the dipping sauce, we had salt and pepper, sesame oil, and seafood sauce.

For the meat, customers have the choice of ordering marinated beef, salt and pepper beef, spicy beef, beef yakiniku, salt and pepper pork, marinated pork, herbed pork, teriyaki pork, and spicy pork shoulder.

We tried the salt and pepper beef, spicy beef, beef yakiniku, and salt and pepper pork. The meat is delicious and well-seasoned.

We also gave in and decided to try wagyu cubes so we added P100 to our total bill. The wagyu cubes are flavorful and tender. It’s more like beef meatloaf cut into cubes, but they are nonetheless enjoyable to eat. We asked for two servings but at this point we were already full and we were just trying to finish the rest of the food that we ordered.

By the way, if you like soup, you may request kimchi soup from the staff. You can also have rice if you want. We were quite hungry when we ate here, that’s why we also ordered rice. However, it seems like we are indeed getting old because we got full quickly. Hindi na kagaya dati na kaya pa rin naming sulitin ang mga unli samgyupsal.

All in all, we had an enjoyable lunch date experience at SamgyeopMasarap. The food is good and the price is reasonable.
