Wordless Wednesday: Watermelon Strawberry Coke

I’ve always loved Coke. I like the original, full sugar variant although I do admit that we have shifted to Coke Zero at home because, well, we’re not getting younger anymore. Having said that, I’ve never really liked flavored Coke except for Vanilla Coke.

Wordless Wednesday: Watermelon Strawberry Coke

However, one Coke variant caught my eye (and fancy) lately. It was a limited-edition Watermelon Strawberry flavored Coke. It’s in collaboration with DJ Marshmello so it comes in a can featuring a drawing or artwork of the music producer. This flavored Coke was given as a prize during Mommy Khris’ dice game with her friends. Of course, I wanted her to win a can or two so that we would be able to try it. Luckily, she did!

This flavored Coke variant is zero sugar, so you need not worry about the extra calories. Again, it’s got a watermelon and strawberry flavor. That sounded a little tropical, hence, refreshing. I was also half-expecting the liquid to be reddish or pinkish in color but that was not the case when I opened a can. It looked like regular Coke but that was fine. It does smell like watermelon and strawberry, a bit like candy but that’s not bad.

In terms of the taste, I was also expecting the fruit flavors to be mild, just hints that blend well with the Coke taste. When I took a sip though, I found the watermelon and strawberry flavors to be a little too overpowering, a bit too sweet for my liking.

In fact, if I hadn’t known that it was sugar-free, I would’ve thought that it was loaded with sugar because of the strong fruit taste. That’s not bad but it’s not really something that I’d want to drink regularly. It was a little too heavy on the palate; I wouldn’t consider it thirst-quenching. Maybe that’s why it was also limited edition.

In the end, I’d still go for classic Coca-Cola (or Coke Zero. Haha).

Have you tried the limited-edition watermelon and strawberry flavor Coke yet? Let me know in the comment section if this is something that you’re also game in trying.
