Not only that, it also offers other Filipino favorites that we are all familiar with.

Marina Seafood Restaurant Review

Enjoy Delicious Ilonggo Food At Home With Marina Seafood’s Ready-To-Heat Food Packs

I’ve tried eating at Marina Seafood Restaurant in SM MOA Pasay when I was still working in the vicinity years ago. I loved how fresh the seafood was like the grilled tuna belly and grilled squid. There are also meat dishes like pork barbecue and sisig, which were both equally flavorful. The price is also reasonable because one item can be split by up to three people.

    Marina Seafood’s convenient food packs

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Marina Seafood has come up with a way for Filipinos to enjoy their food which is to offer some of their signature items in frozen ready-to-heat and eat food packs.

Marina Seafood's ready-to-heat KBL (kadyos, baboy. langka)

Currently, consumers can buy KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka), tuna sisig, balbacua, beef caldereta (bakareta), dinuguan, Ilonggo kare-kare, and seafood stew.

I was able to try the KBL and I like that the container is of a good size. Three to four people can share in this soup. It’s microwavable but I prefer to thaw the frozen soup at room temperature and then heat it over the stove.

To be honest, I’ve only heard about KBL on TV so I didn’t quite know what to expect. In fact, I thought it looked like sinigang but it’s more like nilaga and bulalo. It had generous amounts of pork shanks, langka (jackfruit), and kadyos (pigeon peas).

The broth of KBL is really rich and flavorful with a slight hint of sourness. I’m not really sure if the tartness is from the young jackfruit, the pigeon peas, or another souring agent but it’s really good. KBL is not like sinigang, which is a hot and sour soup. It’s a little closer to Bulalo but you can tell that KBL has its own character. The addition of pigeon peas gave this soup texture and color variety.

Marina Seafood’s ready-to-heat and eat food packs are available in the frozen food section of SM Supermarkets. You can also have it delivered via FoodPanda, GrabFood, Dingdong, Pickaroo, Metromart, and Riderko.
