I’m sure many of you have heard of what aromatherapy is and how it affects our health and well-being. In simple words, aromatherapy is the practice of using aromatic essential oils in the belief that it will relieve certain ailments and promote overall physical and mental wellness. Since there are limited scientific studies to back the effectiveness of aromatherapy, it will most probably have people questioning whether it works or not.

I find that aromatherapy and essential oils, in particular, to be effective for me. I use an essential oil roller blend to help relieve my stuffy nose since I have allergic rhinitis and it works for me. I also use another essential oil blend to help relieve eczema on my hands and it does provide some respite from my painful cracked skin.

I also know a lot of people who are actively diffusing essential oils because they found aromatherapy to be effective for them and their families. Just a warning though that essential oils are not advisable for kids younger than three years old.

What are essential oils and how do they work?

Essential oils are extracted from plants and herbs and carry the healing properties of these plants from where the oils were obtained.
