One of the two restaurants that Khris and I regularly go to when we are at St. Luke’s in BGC is Plan B Café.

Located on the second floor of St. Luke’s Medical Arts Building, Plan B Café can be easy to miss especially with the busy buzz of people coming and going inside restaurants on the hospital’s ground floor. As such, if you are looking for a quiet place to have lunch or maybe coffee and snacks, then Plan B Café offers the perfect nook for you.

Plan B Café at St. Luke’s BGC

    Location and ambiance

Since Plan B Café is located inside St. Luke’s BGC, it’s not really a restaurant that people would seek out. It caters wholly to patients, visitors, doctors, and hospital employees.

In terms of ambiance, it’s really one of the most inviting restaurants from among the few concessionaires inside the hospital. It is relatively less chaotic, probably because it is on the second floor where there is little foot traffic. It has small wooden chairs and tables that are not really meant for large groups of people. Overall, Plan B Café exudes a coffee shop vibe – easygoing, relaxed, and welcoming.

    Food

Plan B Café offers a selection of all-day breakfast food, pasta and pizza, mains and sides, soups and salads, and sandwiches. During our first time here, we were naturally undecided on which to get so we settled for breakfast food. Our reasoning was that you can never go wrong with breakfast food. It’s pretty simple and straightforward to prepare, so it is very rare that a restaurant would bungle breakfast food.

Khris got Angus tapa (fried marinated beef strips) served with sinangag or garlic fried rice and itlog or fried egg which you could request to be scrambled if you desire it. Meanwhile, I got a grilled Hungarian sausage plate. Our orders arrived after a fair amount of preparation time. We were quite impressed with how big the servings were. The beef tapa was generous and was served with a spicy vinegar dip. The Hungarian sausage was served with a side salad and two slices of toast.

We only had good words to say about the beef tapa. The beef was tender and meaty, not full of tendons or fat. The flavor of the meat was just right and further enhanced by the spicy vinegar. The scrambled egg and the garlic fried rice were the perfect sidings to the beef tapa.

Meanwhile, the Hungarian sausage was also delicious. It was grilled which meant that it was not oily. It was full of flavor from the spices and seasonings. It had a bit of spiciness from black pepper which made eating more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend eating Hungarian sausage with rice because it was very savory.

By the way, they also operate Billiken Ramen so if you want Japanese food, you may order sushi, sashimi, and ramen, just to name a few. We tried their ramen and it was also good. Not the best out there but great enough as a side soup.

On our second visit to Plan B Café recently, we tried the Marinara pasta and again ordered Hungarian sausage. The Marinara pasta had a generous amount of shrimps, squid, and clams, and was very fragrant from the garlic, tomatoes, and seasonings. What we liked about this pasta is its serving size which could feed two hungry people. The seafood was cooked just right and the mélange of flavors was lip-smacking. After finishing it, we were already looking forward to Plan B Café so that we could order Marinara pasta again.

    Price and service

As I had mentioned earlier, service is fairly fast. Waiting time is short from putting your orders to the actual serving of food. Since it’s a small café, it’s easy to get the attention of the servers if ever you need anything.

The price of the food is a bit high compared to similar restaurants outside the hospital. However, as compared to other restaurants in St. Luke’s BGC, the price is already a bit reasonable. The Angus tapa that we ordered is Php475, the Sausage Plate is Php340, while the Marinara pasta is Php360.

All in all, it has always been a good experience in the two times that we have eaten at Plan B Café.

Plan B Café is located on the 2nd Floor (mezzanine), St. Luke's Medical Center, 32nd Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. Their phone number is (02) 807-8841 although no reservation is required.
