Buffet 101 Restaurant Review

Buffet 101 is a good option if you are looking for an all-you-can-eat restaurant that offers good value-for-money. It has an extensive array of dishes that range from Asian to Western, as well as unlimited fruit juices, soda, coffee, and beer.

Buffet 101 Restaurant Review

    Our Buffet 101 Experience

Buffet 101 may not have left a good impression in me during the first time we ate here. I judge a buffet restaurant by the quality of the meat at the carving station.

Unfortunately, I did not like Buffet 101’s roast beef during our first time here. The meat, while medium rare and pinkish, was a bit tough and flavorless.

However, during the two times we ate at Buffet 101 during the last three months, I would say that it has appropriately redeemed itself.

The roast beef at the carving station was consistently moist, tender, and bursting with flavor. It went really well with my favorite black pepper sauce.

Beyond the carving station though, there was so much more good food to be had. If you love Filipino dishes, there is a station that is dedicated to everything Pinoy. There are street food skewers complete with sweet-spicy sauce that we are all familiar with.

If you miss eating banana and camote cue, then you are in luck because you will find them here at Buffet 101. What I also like here is that Buffet 101 puts emphasis on local salads like seaweed, grilled vegetables, and squid rings complemented by garlic-onion-vinegar dressing and bagoong (shrimp paste). Not too many buffet restaurants put those native salads on center stage.

Being a meat lover myself, my plate is always a mish mash of the meat dishes that caught my fancy.

Aside from the roast beef, two other meat dishes that proved to be unforgettable were the Beef Pot Roast and the Australian Beef Stroganoff. Both had nice flavors as well as texture that was yielding to each bite. These are great paired with my favorite braised vegetable and French fries.

If you fancy grilled, seafood you may have shrimps, squid, and fresh fish grilled to your liking. What I missed at Buffet 101 was the mussels, clams, and crabs although that’s not really a deal breaker. I saw baked oysters but, alas, they get wiped out as soon as they reach the serving plate.

There is also a Japanese food station for those who love fresh slivers of salmon as well as rolls of different maki varieties.

Lastly, the dessert station features native cakes or kakanin, halo-halo, and a host of pastries and cakes commonly seen in the dessert stations of other buffet restaurants.
