First time at Solaire Resort

It was my first time to go to Solaire Resort at Entertainment City, Parañaque a few weeks ago. It was not for a holiday or staycation, though; it was for our company’s year-end Christmas party. Anyway, I had to go to the venue early because I was one of the performers on stage. No, I didn’t dance; I was just part of the group of new employees who walked on stage. I took a GrabCar from my office to Solaire Resort and was amazed because I had never been to that side of the city in many years.

First time at Solaire Resort

I never realized that Solaire Resort was a bit far, well, using my Quezon City residence as a reference, at least. But it was huge, it reminded me of some of the hotels that we visited when we were in Macau more than a decade ago. It looked grand, opulent, elite, and a little too intimidating for me. Upon entering the lobby, I can see the magnificence of the hall: the high ceiling, the lights, and the overall interior design.

Immediately, I was greeted by the bustling lights of the machines in the casino. It was filled with people playing casino games. I said to myself that those people were probably rich individuals with money to burn (many of them, at least). Again, I was reminded of our time at the Venetian Hotel in Macau; we were present in the moment, yet we felt that we were also in a different world. We were never tempted to try playing any casino games. On a further note, the Solaire Hotel was festive because of the Christmas decorations. I couldn’t help but snap a photo of the giant Christmas tree in the center.

Our company party was at the Grand Ballroom of Solaire Resort. It was one of the biggest hotel ballrooms that I have seen. It was perfect for large company events like parties and conferences. I have mixed opinions on the food, but I have to admit that I didn’t get to taste all of the food served because of the long lines.

I tried the salmon gravlax for starters, and it was good. I also tasted the pasta, fish with lemon sauce, roast beef, and the lechon belly. I thought the lechon belly was exceptional (I think it was Cebu lechon), and I especially liked the vinegar sauce that was served with it. I was expecting too much from the roast beef; yes, it was perfectly medium rare, but I found it a bit lacking in flavor. While it was tender, I couldn’t understand why it was challenging to slice, and it also didn’t have the melt-in-your-mouth quality that I was expecting. I’m not complaining; this was a company party, and I was grateful for the food and the night of fun.

After dinner, I left early because I was trying to catch the P2P bus, which I was glad I did. I think Solaire Resort is perfect for family staycations, especially if you have a few nights to spend. I haven’t tried or seen the facilities, but from what I heard, kids will also enjoy it at Solaire Resort.
