My Teppan Okochi Ryujin Lunch Experience + Review [BGC]

On two occasions, I have tried eating at Teppan Okochi in BGC. Both occasions were for our office lunch outs, and I would say that it was a pleasant dining experience for me. Before I proceed, I would also like to disclose that we were treated by our supervisors during both instances, which also affected my choice of food.

My Teppan Okochi Ryujin Lunch Experience [BGC]

First impression, I found the restaurant a little intimidating because I was already expecting the food to be expensive. The interiors were nice and cozy, and the staff were very accommodating. However, I just couldn't shake off the feeling that if I ate here, it would leave a significant dent on my budget, haha. Anyway, it was a good thing that our bosses were treating us to lunch, so my concern about the budget immediately went away, and that gave me a reassuring feeling.

We were seated on a long table, and a large griddle was in front of us. Depending on the food that you would order, it would be cooked right in front of you. I found out later on that it was a style called teppanyaki in which, again, a chef would prepare and cook the food in front of you.

As I browsed through the menu, although I had not been to Japan yet, I couldn’t help but remark on how authentic the food looked. They looked like they were flown straight from Japan, and I thought that was pretty good. In any case, I decided to look for options that seemed safe and affordable, hence my decision to go with ramen. I think I ordered Shoyu Ramen, which came with three pieces of chicken karaage and a side salad. I found the warm soup to be flavorful and comforting. It was a big bowl; I was full in no time. I thought I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but I didn’t want to waste food, so I polished it off, nonetheless.

All in all, it was a good experience. The Shoyu Ramen was delicious, not exceptional, but nevertheless wonderful.
