Wordless Wednesday: The Skyscrapers Of BGC

I’ve always considered Bonifacio Global City or BGC as one of my favorite places in Metro Manila. I love the first-world vibe of BGC, especially the tall and modern-looking skyscrapers that are scattered inside Fort Bonifacio.

Wordless Wednesday: The Skyscrapers Of BGC

Yes, for those who are not familiar, BGC is inside a military fort. However, despite the cosmopolitan ambiance of BGC, vehicle traffic is so heavy, especially during the morning and afternoon rush hours. The heavy traffic is just a minor complaint though in the midst of the many things to love in BGC.

Speaking of the things to love in BGC, here are some of them:

  1. An efficient transport system. I find the BGC Bus (Bonifacio Transport Corp.) to be the most effective transportation if you want to tour BGC. Of course, you can bring your own car but with the rising fuel costs and high parking fees, the BGC Bus is still the winner because you just have to pay a flat rate of P13 wherever your drop-off point is.
  2. A lot of green spaces. I like that there are a lot of open spaces and gardens within the developments in BGC. It’s always a breath of fresh air to take a quick break from work and just sit on a bench surrounded by greeneries.
  3. Spacious parks. I also like that there are parks in BGC that are family and kid-friendly. Not only that, but these parks are also pet-friendly so you don’t have to worry about taking your beloved dog with you when you go jogging.
  4. BGC is a haven for artists. You can see a lot of artworks scattered within BGC. I also love looking at the colorful murals that are painted in some of the buildings in BGC.
  5. Amazing foodie finds. If you love trying new cuisine, then BGC is a great place to visit. There are many restaurants featuring local and international food choices, as well as cafes and pastry shops, to satisfy one’s palate.
  6. Shop for signature brands. BGC is also home to big international brands so it’s most likely that you’ll get to find your favorite shoe, bag, or shirt brand here.
  7. A peaceful and friendly community. BGC is a bustling business district. Despite that, the atmosphere outside the offices is fairly relaxed and laidback.

Of course, among all the positive traits I’ve listed above, I can think of one slightly negative attribute of BGC and that is its high cost. Most of the time, if you are buying anything in BGC, be it food or an item, be ready to pay a high price. That does not mean though that there are no affordable options in BGC. There are still pocket-friendly choices but they are just a handful.

Have you ever been to BGC yet? If yes, what can you say about it? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
