Liang Crispy Roll: Delightfully Crunchy and Savory Bites [Review]

Liang Crispy Roll offers snack rolls that are scrumptious and delightful to munch on. It’s so good that it’s hard to stop after the first bite. What's the secret? It’s the crunchy and flaky pastry used for wrapping the fillings of Liang Crispy Roll. Of course, it also goes without saying that the stuffing is super flavorful and is made of high-quality fresh ingredients.

The concept of Liang Crispy Roll was born out of the popular scallion pancakes or shou zhua bing (手抓冰) that are commonly found in Asian countries like China, Singapore, Taiwan, Malaysia, and Indonesia. It’s the favorite quick breakfast meal, light snack, or meal sidings of people from all walks of life.

These scallion pancakes provided the inspiration to Chai Lei, the owner of Liang Crispy Roll, to create her own version of that popular street food. Over the years, Liang Crispy Roll has grown to be the number one brand for scallion pancakes in China and the country’s second-largest fast-food chain with over 12,800 stores worldwide.

Liang Crispy Roll is love at first bite

Mommy Khris and I had the chance to attend the pre-opening event of Liang Crispy Roll’s flagship branch, located at the Cinema Level (fourth level) of SM Aura Premier in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. It was an exclusive sneak peek at the menu as well as the physical store itself of Liang Crispy Roll. We also got to sample some of the flavors that are on offer.

What sets Liang Crispy Roll apart from other similar products is its pancake batter. Once cooked, it becomes a fluffy, flaky, and crispy hybrid of paratha, roti, and pancake. It’s the perfect pastry to go with both sweet and savory fillings.

We did enjoy sampling some of the best flavors in Liang Crispy Roll’s menu particularly the pork barbecue, Angus beef steak, grilled chicken, and chunky tuna. All of them were delicious and Khris and I loved every bite because the crispy wrap went well with the fillings. The added crunch was a nice touch and indeed provided a different level of experience to every bite.

What’s my favorite? It’s the pork barbecue, hands down. I like the generous tender slices of pork that taste like the classic barbecue that we all know of. I like that it had fresh lettuce and onions because it somehow mellowed the rich taste of pork barbecue.

Anyway, you need to try all variants to be able to take your own pick. I haven’t tried the 5 Cheese Melt and the Veggie Delite yet but I’m sure they’re as good as the rest of the food at Liang Crispy Roll.

What I also love about the food at Liang Crispy Roll is the price. For an easy-on-the-pocket amount, you can enjoy big servings of the tasty fillings that can surely fill you up.

You can enjoy it as a light meal or a heavy snack. It’s the perfect go-to food if you’re craving something crispy, savory, and light, yet satisfying.
