These are the five mosquito and insect repellent brands that we’ve tried for our kids but we’re recommending you to stop using one of these.

We’re avid users of insect repellent lotions and sprays at home because you
can never be negligent when it comes to mosquito and other insect bites.
Aside from the threat of getting dengue fever, mosquito and other insect bites can cause a lot of skin discomfort and irritation, and even lesions
and allergic reactions in some cases.
The Best Insect Repellent Brands In The Philippines For Babies
Why use insect repellent products?
We use insect repellent products at home and even outside primarily for protection. We noticed that both our kids are like magnets to mosquitoes and
ants so a good insect repellent product is a must when they are outside
playing.
In the instances when we fail to put bug lotions and sprays, we would instantly see red bite marks on their skin. That would be followed by seemingly endless scratching fits. The red marks would either turn into a dark spot or break into wounds in more severe cases.
Aside from skin protection, of course, we want to protect our children against
diseases carried by mosquitoes and other insects.
Should you also use an insect repellent product? I would say yes because we can’t always be beside our babies to shoo away insects especially if our kids are busy playing. It’s just a matter of choosing the best insect repellent to use for your kids.
I understand that not a lot of people are comfortable in using insect repellent lotions because, while they are generally safe, it’s
true that some kids may be allergic to certain ingredients in those products.
Don’t worry though because there are a lot of options aside from lotions that
are available in the market today.
What are the characteristics of good quality insect repellent products?
In terms of indicators of good quality insect repellents, it should be, first
and foremost, effective in warding off mosquitoes and other insects.
A good insect repellent should also be made of all-natural ingredients so that
it wouldn’t cause any adverse skin reactions, it should smell good, and it
should be light on the skin so that it won’t cause any sticky feeling.
Highly recommended insect repellent products
Insect repellent for kids comes in different forms: lotion, spray, and sticker. In the end, it’s all up to you in which type to use, depending on
what is the most effective for you and what you are most comfortable in using.
Here are some of the products that we’ve tried and love:
1. OFF Mosquito Lotion for Kids
The OFF lotion is a classic brand trusted by generations. I remember using this a lot during my college days when dengue cases in UP Diliman spiked.

OFF Lotion for Kids |
The OFF lotion was so effective that, for years, it was the only insect repellent brand that I know of. As such, the OFF Mosquito Lotion for Kids was also the
first insect repellent product that we bought when we needed one for our baby.
It’s still as effective for my kids as it was for me. However, it tends to
become sticky and heavy on the skin so it felt hot.
We stopped using OFF lotion for kids though since finding out that its active ingredient called DEET (N, N-Diethyl-meta-toluamide) is a slightly
toxic and corrosive chemical.
DEET works by masking our natural scent against mosquitoes and other insects.
Since then, we began to look for safer alternatives that are made of natural
ingredients.
If you are also concerned with OFF lotion for kids’ active chemical, then I
would also advise you to look for alternatives.
2. Kindee Mosquito Repellent Lotion, Spray, and Sticker
Kindee is one of our most favorite brands because it smells good, it is light
on the skin, and it comes in three different variants so we have options for
every situation.

It’s also effective in warding off mosquitoes. In fact, Kindee gives us a lot
of peace of mind because a little of this product works really well.

3. Moskishield Bug Spray and Patch (sticker)
One of our favorite brands is Moskishield insect repellent spray and sticker.
We would often use the patch because that meant less application of products to the skin of our babies.

Just stick the patch on your child’s shirt and that’s it. For the exposed areas, such as the arms and legs,
that’s where we would use the Moskishield spray.
What’s good about Moskishield is that it’s made of natural ingredients like
oil of lemon and eucalyptus, and it’s also DEET-free.
4. Bite Block
Bite Block is one of our most recent discoveries. I thought that it was an imported brand that my sister-in-law gave us. It turned out to be locally
available.

Bite Block is an insect repellent lotion that smells good, is effective, and easy-on-the-pocket. What’s also good about Bite Block is that it’s readily
available in drugstores and supermarkets.
More importantly, Bite Block is hypo-allergenic and also DEET-free.
5. Cadentia Nature Anti-Moustiques Cologne Spray

Cadential All-Natural Anti-Mosquito Cologne Spray |
This was given to us by my sister-in-law but we haven’t fully tested it yet.
We were just amused with the fact that it’s a cologne spray, which will keep
our babies smelling fresh when playing outside, but it’s also a natural and
DEET-free insect repellent product.
6. Lana Lane Bug-A-Boo Essential Oil Bug Spray
The Lana Lane Bug-A-Boo Essential Oil Bug Spray is a recent discovery. It's formulated by Lana Lane, which is a brand that I trust. This bug spray is made of Casa de Lorenzo Sanitizer Base, Cedarwood Atlas, Lavender, patchouli, tea tree, and lemongrass; predominantly all-natural ingredients.

What I like about the Lana Lane Bug-A-Boo Essential Oil Bug Spray is that it smells light and fresh, completely devoid of any harsh chemical scent. What's even better is that it's effective in warding off pesky mosquitoes and unwanted bugs.
Epilogue
These are just five of the anti-mosquito products that we’ve tried. We will
continue to add more products here in case we get to try other similar brands.
In choosing the best mosquito and insect repellent brands for your kids, also look for products that combine effectivity and safety. Pick those that are made of all-natural ingredients to avoid adverse skin reactions. Also, try
different brands to see which works well for you.
