Our experience at Nono’s
We rarely got to try Nono’s but we were glad that we were able to before the pandemic happened. You see, Khris and I have been planning to eat at Nono’s for several months but we never got the time to do so because things in both our offices got really busy.
The restaurant has always caught my attention because I usually see it whenever I go to Three Central. From the outside, it looked like a classy restaurant. Nevertheless, it exudes a warm and inviting aura. In fact, it is usually filled with groups of diners during lunchtime.

Furthermore, we have not been on a date for so long, that was why we wanted to eat out somewhere special and Valentine’s Day was the perfect excuse to do so. As such, we finally decided to have dinner at Nono’s. However, that date had to be pushed back again for another week because we wanted to avoid the “dating” crowd. Never did we imagine that it would be our last date during the old normal before the COVID-19 pandemic happened.
Nono’s is, thus, one of the restaurants that will probably hold a special place in our memory. It was a happy memory that we hope to relive again.
Anyway, that instance served to emphasize an age-old tenet that we often disregard and that is to never take things for granted again. If you want to do or try something, do it now. Live your life like today is your last day. Then again, it’s better said this way – live your life to the fullest.
4 things that we liked about Nono’s
Our overall experience at Nono’s was excellent and unforgettable. Aside from the nostalgia of that last date, Nono’s left nothing but a good impression on us.
Here are 4 reasons why we would always come back to Nono’s given the opportunity to do so:
1. Delicious food
Nono’s is best known for its delicious food. In fact, many of our colleagues have recommended that we try Nono’s.
For our dinner date, we ordered Fried Truffle Cheese Wontons (Php185, five pieces in a serving) for the appetizer, French Onion Soup (Php255), Roasted Beef Belly (Php595), Shrimp El Diablo pasta (Php445), and a slice of Nono’s Chocolate Oblivion (Php175).

The Fried Truffle Cheese Wontons are the perfect appetizer. These are mozzarella and cheddar cheese wrapped in wontons. These are then fried and drizzled with honey and truffle oil. The rich flavors of the cheese are made even more savory with the addition of truffle oil.
The sweetness of the honey, meanwhile, perfectly balances the slightly salty and creamy taste of the cheese and truffle oil. Honestly, the Fried Cheese Wontons are what I was most excited about and it did not disappoint. I could munch on those perfectly crunchy and cheesy wontons endlessly.

We also had French onion soup. Honestly, it was my first time to try proper French onion soup. Nono’s version is slow-cooked, caramelized onions in broth, topped with sourdough, and melted mozzarella cheese. It looked beautiful when it arrived, we almost did not know how to begin consuming it. Anyway, we did so by working through the melted cheese on top. It was also good; the flavors are well-balanced and the warm soup is the perfect companion on a cold, rainy day.
The Roasted Beef Belly is another dish that I was really excited about. It looked beautiful when it arrived on our table – three slices of slow-roasted USDA beef belly, drizzled with balsamic glaze, and served with horseradish cream, and mashed potatoes.
The meat was really tender and easily yielded to our forks. It was also juicy, and the smoky and slightly caramelized edges of the beef have added a depth of flavor to each bite. If we did not order so much, I would have this with rice.

We wanted to have seafood with our meal but we felt like fish plates would be too much, so we ordered Shrimp El Diablo. This is pan-roasted shrimp with chili pepper flakes, garlic, onion, and red capsicum tossed in olive oil and tomato-herb sauce. You can also never go wrong with this pasta dish. The shrimp is smoky and juicy and went well with the lightly spicy sauce. This one is a complete meal on a plate.

On a different occasion, I tried the Grilled Pork Chop (Php465). This is one comfort food that I would also recommend at all times. This meat lover’s delight is a juicy, one-inch thick grilled boneless pork chop, topped with lemon and herbed butter, and served with mashed potatoes.
The meat is juicy and flavorful, despite being cooked well throughout. The mashed potatoes were the perfect sides; I was completely satisfied with the fragrant and buttery potatoes. But if you want this with rice, go ahead and order a cup.

For our dessert, we just had to try the popular Nono’s Chocolate Oblivion. Rich, moist, and chocolatey, it was the perfect dessert to cap a beautiful meal. I just wished that I ordered coffee to go with it.
2. Notable dessert selection
If you love desserts, then you will like it at Nono’s. They do not have an extensive selection of desserts but the ones that they have are enough to satisfy your sweet tooth such as Cookie Skillet a la Mode, ice cream sandwich, and a slice of the day.

Nono’s also sell cakes, either whole or by the slice. Some cakes are available in-store while other cake flavors are through pre-orders only. If you are pre-ordering cakes, Nono’s needs five days to prepare the cake.
3. Cozy ambiance
One thing that drew me to Nono’s was its cozy-looking interiors. This particular branch at Three Central does not boast of a large floor area; it’s actually just a small space that is perfect for intimate gatherings.

You can even eat here alone and not feel too conspicuous because there are small tables that are good for two people only. During the day, the restaurant is bright because it has big windows that let the natural light in.
4. Friendly and efficient restaurant staff
Finally, what is good comfort food if it not complemented with impeccable service? Bad experience, most likely. The restaurant staff is courteous and welcoming. You can ask them for their recommendations and they will not make you feel like you are senseless. It’s really the small and simple details that matter, like repeating your orders again to ensure that they did not miss anything to providing suggestions on serving the slice of cake after our meal.

Epilogue
We sure had a wonderful time at Nono’s. The food was indeed delicious and heartwarming. In fact, Nono’s is one of the few restaurants that can rightfully claim that it can do comfort food right.
On a different note, we were happy that we pushed through with our dinner date. It’s definitely one happy memory that we would look back to in the old normal.

Aside from that the ambiance is good and the service is great. It's nice as well that they have kid's meal and several payment options, very convenient.
