Dohtonbori’s Menu + Complete List Of Branches [With Food Review]

March 02, 2022

Sharing with you our recent experience at Dohtonbori in SM City Fairview.

We had the chance to eat at Dohtonbori in SM City Fairview a few days ago and we genuinely had a great time. The food was delicious and the seats were cozy even though it looked cramped from outside. We were quite surprised by how spacious the interiors looked when we entered the restaurant.

Dohtonbori’s Menu + Complete List Of Branches [With Food Review]

Also, to be honest, Dohtonbori is one of the restaurants in SM City Fairview that we used to just ignore whenever we passed by it. For one, it was just beside our favorite Mary Grace Cafe. But since we seemed to have run out of new and interesting restaurants to try, we decided to check Dohtonbori and we were glad that we did so.

    Dohtonbori’s Menu

It was obvious that Dohtonbori is a Japanese restaurant but we didn’t know what to expect from it. What I meant is that there are Japanese restaurants that we go to wherever we craved ramen or sushi, and so forth. With Dohtonbori, we had no idea where to begin we just decided to be on the safe side.

Anyway, we soon found out that Dohtonbori specializes in Okonomiyaki or Japanese savory pancake. Apparently, Dohtonbori is the number 1 in Japan and in the Philippines when it comes to okonomiyaki. The restaurant takes pride in being the only place in the Philippines where you can get the most authentic okonomiyaki experience.

We didn’t try it though because the camembert cheese okonomiyaki that we wanted to order was a little expensive at around P600.

    What we ordered at Dohtonbori

Our orders weren’t really anything spectacular or adventurous. Mommy Khris had Gyu-Don while I had Katsu-Don. We also ordered the Ajitama Tonkotsu Ramen because it came with free Gyoza.

    Gyu-Don

The servings were actually a little smaller than what we were expecting. The Gyu-Don was topped with fresh egg yolk but it only had a few strips of beef. Meanwhile, the Katsu-Don is a small piece of pork doused with sauce and topped with egg.

Good thing that we weren’t so hungry or else we wouldn't be satisfied. It also helped that the bowl of ramen is big; it’s really good for two people. However, the gyoza were two depressingly small pieces of dumplings but they were free so who are we to complain.

The only redeeming factor of the food was the taste. They were flavorful, at least we found the taste to be satisfactory. We did like the Ajitama Tonkotsu Ramen, probably the only thing that we’d come back to in Dohtonbori.

    Dohtonbori supports autism at work

As a side note, a poster caught my eye which said that Dohtonbori is an equal opportunity employer when it comes to autistic individuals. I think Dohtonbori is very much commendable for having that program in place. It’s a big enough reason for me to support this brand.

    Epilogue

Dohtonbori offers delicious Japanese food although the food servings are a little small. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing because they might be staying true with how the Japanese people would serve their food and that is in small portions.

On another note, do try the okonomiyaki as Dohtonbori says that they offer the best in the land when it comes to that. All in all, it was a nice experience eating at Dohtonbori.
