Y Café’s Pork Sisig

March 18, 2021

Here’s my experience during my last visit to Y Café where I enjoyed their delicious and crunchy pork sisig.

I had the chance to eat at Y Café again when we had a despedida (send-off) lunch for one of our colleagues.

Y Café’s Pork Sisig

Y Café still sports the same modern interiors and decors, action figures, co-working spaces, and meeting rooms. However, because of the ongoing pandemic, so there were safety protocols in place.

The restaurant still cannot operate in full capacity so there only a handful of diners when we went here. There was an ongoing meeting and presentation in one of the smaller conference rooms but that’s just about it.

My personal experience at Y Café

I’ve previously been to Y Café twice. The first time was when I was invited as a blogger during the launch of its new menu. It was a lovely event and we got to sample of their food; the best for me was the Aglio Olio Pasta and the Spicy Shrimp and Sausage.

The second time that I was at Y Cafe was around three years ago when Khris and I had breakfast here. Again, we completely enjoyed the food especially the tapsilog and the coffee. What I liked about Y Café is its consistent service and the big servings of food. I haven’t tried going here during happy hour but I’ve heard their drinks are also highly-recommended.

On my third time at Y Café, we ordered our food in advance. The restaurant staff was happy to accommodate it since they only had a few customers.

When lunchtime arrived, the seven of us were seated on the long table because, well, we had to practice social distancing. Alcohol sprays were on easy reach so that we can sanitize our hands anytime we needed to.

As soon as we were settled, our food was served one by one. They were still warm, which was good because that meant that they didn’t prepare the food way in advance.

The food: pork sisig for me

I love any type of sisig, be it pork, tuna, bangus, or squid. Of course, my all-time favorite is crunchy and greasy pork sisig. I haven’t had pork sisig in a long time so I readily ordered this. Y Café’s pork sisig (P189) was served in a skillet and looked big, it definitely looked like it was good for two people.

It was made of crunchy chunks of pork and seasoned with onion, mayo, cayenne pepper, and topped with an egg. It wasn’t served sizzling but it was warm. Moreover, it’s one of the most good-looking sisig that I have seen.

It tasted delicious. The pork bits were crunchy and well-seasoned, each bite had hints of liver spread and the saltiness as just right. I haven’t had the time to mix the egg with the pork so it looked like it was topped with a sunny side up egg and could pass for breakfast food (Sisig for breakfast? Why not?!). Since food sharing is discouraged, I happily finished the entire pork sisig (I’m not complaining!).

All in all, it was a good experience and I was happy to have eaten at Y Café again.

    Epilogue

Y Café is one of the best restaurants in the Salcedo Village area because it combines meeting rooms and co-working spaces in one venue. The food is great and the ambiance is conducive to being productive.

It’s such a pity that the pandemic continues to affect restaurants such as Y Café but I sincerely hope that they survive the challenging times. I hope to be back at Y Café when everything is back to normal. Until then, let’s just pray for businesses to pull through this ordeal.

Y Cafe is located at Brgy, Salcedo Village, Don Chua Lamko Building Leviste Cor. Dela Costa Sts, Makati, 1227. For inquiries and reservations, you may call 0995 638 9073. For food delivery, you may order via GrabFood and Foodpanda.
