Madrid Fusion Manila (MFM) 2018 is finally pushing through on September, amid all the ruckus created by the initial announcement that the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) is deferring the event for next year.
A report published by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) earlier this month said that TPB confirmed that the dates for the Madrid Fusion Manila have already been agreed upon by Philippine and Spanish organizers. According to PNA, Maricon Ebron, head of the TPB Marketing and Promotions Sector, said that Foro de Debate recommended having the international gastronomy congress from September 25 to 29, 2018.
Ebron said, “Actually it was really going to push through, ang requirements lang, we need to comply with the procurement law.”
Ebron also said that they were just waiting for the confirmation of the dates from the organizers which had been delayed.
“(Initially) they can’t confirm what are their (Foro de Debate’s) available dates, if venues will be available on those dates, also (schedules of) the chefs, iyon talaga ang kailangan i-marry,” Ebron added.
Meanwhile, TPB chief operating officer Cesar Montano said the government agency “continues to recognize” the impact of MFM in promoting the Philippines as “focal point of gastronomic interest worldwide.”
Montano confirmed that there is a “possibility” of holding the Madrid Fusion Manila fourth edition in 2018, in the midst of “new developments and change in logistical requirements” which have been deemed as “advantageous” to the government, according to the PNA report.
