While the Kapitolyo and Ortigas districts in Pasig are popular food havens, seldom would we dare go there because of the notoriously heavy traffic in the area. However, when we were looking for a lunch venue away from Makati, we were drawn to Seven Corners Restaurant in Crowne Plaza thanks to a promo with Citibank and the positive reviews about the place. It was Saturday but traffic was thankfully bearable.
We arrived just in time for our reservation. Seven Corners Restaurant leaves a good impression because of its spacious and bright interiors, as well as comfortable seats. The tables are adequately spaced to provide a little privacy for the different groups of diners.
The buffet spread, meanwhile, is just enough to keep guests satisfied. Selections are not too many to the point that it becomes too overwhelming.
One may begin with appetizers from the cold section — a plate of salad, perhaps, cold mussels or smoked salmon. There is also a Japanese section for slivers of fresh salmon and tuna and Sashimi, as well as rolls of Maki.
After appetizers, we requested for grilled shrimps, mussels, crabs and salmon. These were cooked with butter which rendered a rich, almost sweet flavor to the meat of the seafood.
A meal at Seven Corners wouldn’t be complete without a visit to the carvery. On display was a huge log of beef that is ready for the grill. I requested for a serving which I asked to be cooked medium well. One may choose from Herbed Sea Salt, Mint Jelly, Rosemary & Garlic, Dijon Mustard and Horseradish. I went for the Dijon Mustard and added a siding of tasty potatoes and broccoli. The meat was very tender, juicy and flavorful. The steak itself was enough reason to give this restaurant five stars.
We also helped ourselves on the crispy and wicked lechon belly and various selections of sausages. Rice and pasta are also available for those who want a heavy meal.
Dessert came next after our feast. Present at the dessert station were the usual panna cotta, carrot cake and other familiar pastries. We were already full so we settled fresh fruits and ice cream.
All in all, it was an enjoyable meal at Seven Corners Restaurant. Service was fast and efficient. Price was also good, thanks mainly to the promo with Citibank credit cards. Definitely seven stars for Seven Corners!
