Grateful Dad #7.23: Life In March

April 02, 2023

Here's a recap of what went on in my life during the month of March.

The month of March has gone by in a flash, just like January and February. The days were typical – work, family, bonding on weekends, and so on. Just the usual routines. Work is occupying most of my time on weekdays (of course). I’m guilty that I’ve been giving my kids more screen time lately because we are always too tired. At times, I have to convince myself to get my heavy self out of the bed during weekends. I’m too tired, we’re too tired because the traffic has gotten heavy already. The Metro Manila traffic is back to its usual level. We do spend a lot of the kids still, even if we let them use the cellphones longer. We play with them, we talk to them, we eat with them, and we take them to the mall on weekends.

Anyway, I’ve been trying to think of the things that I still want to do. Just personal projects, in addition to blogging. Again, these personal projects are meant for personal development, similar to why I took up blogging in the first place. I do admit that, at my age, I’m still a work in progress when it comes to basic skills.

I’ve been trying to contemplate some things during the last four weeks, mostly about my personal journey – career-wise, the choices I made, the experiences that helped shape who I am, my college course, where I’m headed, and so on. Some profound, some mundane. At times, I still feel like an aimless wanderer even if I’m already in the fourth decade of my life.

There was one conversation that stuck in my head over lunch with my colleagues and that’s when we tried to answer the question “What other things would you like to do aside from your current job?” The first thing that popped into my head is that I wanted to own a grocery store and sell the usual pantry items but I wanted to add school supplies to those. This desire to own a store is, in a way, voicing my desire to be a business owner, be my own boss, and eventually break free from the routine of an office job.

Aside from that, I wanted to be a teacher, too. Maybe not the typical classroom teacher but be a coach for a particular skill like writing, understanding the basics of banking, insurance, and other topics. I would also like to write another book, one that a lot of people can relate to.

Moreover, this March, we were able to have our first family getaway. Well, it’s not really a family getaway per se but we went with Mommy Khris and her team for their outing at Canyon Cove in Nasugbu, Batangas. The kids loved the beach, as usual, and we were happy that they enjoyed their weekend really well.

I think that pretty much sums up my life in March. What I like to do next is maybe sort out my thoughts and list these down. I really haven’t had the time to sit down and really think about the things that are swirling inside my head.

How was your March? I hope you would share them in the comment section below.
